TABALI CLOSES A BRILLIANT 2021 WITH THE AWARDS FOR BEST WINEMAKER OF THE YEAR AND BEST ICON WINE, AMONG OTHERS

The year 2021 is ending in an amazing way for Tabali, after receiving a series of awards and recognitions that once again confirm the outstanding quality of its wines and team.

As every year, the prestigious Chilean publication La Cav has launched its Tasting Table Guide, where Chilean wines are awarded and scored after tasting more than 2,300 samples. In the 2022 edition of the Guide, Tabali stands out with the extraordinary recognition of its CEO and chief winemaker Felipe Müller as the Best Winemaker in Chile. This award, which fills his team with pride, is accompanied by the award for Best Icon Wine for Roca Madre 2019, mountain Malbec that was evaluated with 99 points, in addition to Talinay Chardonnay 2021 that was highlighted as Best Chardonnay in the country with 97 points.

In addition to these fabulous awards, the high consistency of the Tabali wines was recognized with excellent scores. Talinay Lítico Malbec 2018, Talinay Pinot Noir 2018, Vetas Blancas Cabernet Franc 2019, and TATIE Brut were highlighted with 95 points. These are followed by great scores for the entire Tabali portfolio, demonstrating great oenological solidity.

Added to these awards are the extraordinary results in the Descorchados 2022 Guide, where Talinay Chardonnay 2021 was chosen as the Best White Wine of Chile, highlighted with 97 points by the renowned specialist critic Patricio Tapia. In addition, Talinay Sauvignon Blanc 2021 was awarded as the Best Sauvignon Blanc in the country, DOM Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 was chosen the Best Wine of Maipo Costa, and Vetas Blancas Cabernet Franc 2020 was chosen as the best of its variety.
But Tabali wines are not only recognized by the Chilean press. The most relevant critics at a global level also highlight its wine’s quality, consistency, and unique personality. Luis Gutiérrez, the taster for the famous publication Robert Parker Wine Advocate, chose some of the Tabali wines as the best in Chile in their varieties, scoring them with excellent marks. Roca Madre Malbec 2018 stands out with 96 points, ranking as the best Malbec in Chile, followed by Talinay Lítico Malbec 2018, which obtained 94 points. Thus, these scores add up to and consolidate the expertise developed by Tabali in Malbec, both in high mountains and in extreme coastal terroir.

Pinot Noir is another of Tabali’s strong strains. Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate was impressed with Talinay Pai Pinot Noir 2019, to which it awarded 95 points, in addition to Talinay Pinot Noir 2018 with 94 points.

Robert Parker also added praise to the white wines of Tabali, distinguishing Talinay Sauvignon Blanc 2020 with the highest score for this grape variety in Chile with 95 points, and Talinay Chardonnay 2020 with 94 points, commenting that this is his best vintage to date.

During the first half of 2021, the famous English critic Tim Atkin chose Tabali’s viticulturist Héctor Rojas as the Best Viticulturist of the Year. Besides,  the wines had a great performance within the “Wines of the Year” such as Payen Syrah 2018 (96), Talinay Pai Pinot Noir 2019 (95), Talinay Chardonnay 2020 (95), Micas Carmenere 2017 (95), TATIE Extra Brut Rosé (95) and Pedregoso Rosé 2020 (93). In addition, Tabali remains in the First Growth category, which implies being one of the best-positioned wineries at the national level in the quality of its wines.
“These recognitions fill us with pride and confirm that Tabali’s oenological proposal is on the right track. The Limarí Valley is presented as one of the best valleys in Chile for viticulture and we will continue working to bring out the best that our terroirs of origin have to offer”, says Felipe Müller.
