OUR HISTORY

Tabali has long been an iconic and pioneering winery in the Limarí Valley. Founded by Guillermo Luksic in 2002, each vineyard site was carefully selected for its unique characteristics, which are expressed in every wine.

Guillermo Luksic was the first entrepreneur to build a modern winery in the Limarí Valley. He had a special connection to Ovalle, as his mother, Ena Craig, had studied at the Amalia Errázuriz school, and he often visited the area with family and friends as a child. Motivated by this emotional bond, he once said, “I want to have a property in Ovalle,” drawn by its fascinating climate, temperature, and natural beauty.

In the early 1990s, Guillermo purchased the Santa Rosa de Tabali Estate, located near the mystical Valle del Encanto. In 1993, he planted the first vineyards, and in 2002, the first wines under the Tabali brand were released. These wines quickly gained recognition for their quality, both in the domestic and international markets.

In 2009, after years of geological research and experimentation in its ongoing pursuit of innovation and excellence, the winery acquired the Talinay vineyard.

Situated next to Fray Jorge National Park and part of the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, this vineyard is just 12 km from the Pacific Ocean, making it the closest in the Limarí Valley to the coast. Chile was taken by surprise when the first vintage of Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay from this vineyard was named the best in the country.

In 2010, continuing its quest to discover exceptional terroirs within the valley, the winery purchased Hacienda El Bosque in the mountainous Río Hurtado area. There, it planted a vineyard at an altitude of 1,600 meters, making Tabali the only winery in Chile to own vineyards stretching from the ocean to the mountains within the same valley.

Finally, in 2014, Tabali acquired the DOM vineyard—one of the finest and most exclusive Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards in the Maipo Valley. Uniquely located in the Coastal Mountain Range on south-facing colluvial slopes, this vineyard has opened new opportunities for the winery, allowing it to expand its portfolio and explore regions beyond Limarí.
